There is a very well-known Afrikaans saying: "Stille waters, diepe grond. Onder draai die duiwel rond" which means "Still waters run deep, and that is where the devil roams." It means that quiet people often have hidden and mysterious depths and that things are not always what they seem. 
 
It's been the inspiration for so many stories, songs, TV shows, plays and now...yarn!
